Project Information
At P McVey Building Systems, we delivered high-quality modular classroom units at Victoria Primary School as part of the Education Authority Hire Fleet project. By planning carefully, we ensured all classroom units were ready for the new academic term. Close collaboration between P McVey Building Systems, the project architect, principal designer, and key consultants allowed us to coordinate groundworks, modular installation, and final commissioning efficiently. The project included single-storey modular classroom units, some with SEN (Special Educational Needs) provision, installed across multiple Education Authority locations. Each building contained three or four units. We designed them to provide adaptable, safe, and modern learning spaces. The works included foundations, padstones, paths, paving, and complete modular steel-frame structures. Key stakeholders included Beattie Flanigan as M&E consultant and George Dawson for structural and civil engineering support, while the Education Authority managed project oversight and cost control.
Offsite Solution
We manufactured all modular classroom units offsite to maintain consistent quality and speed up delivery. Offsite fabrication allowed groundworks to progress simultaneously. This parallel workflow shortened the programme and reduced disruption to teaching. Once the units arrived on site, our team installed them quickly on prepared foundations. The streamlined process lowered labour requirements and improved health and safety.
Each modular classroom unit included fully integrated building services and internal finishes. Schools could occupy the classrooms almost immediately. Sustainability and social value guided our approach. The completed scheme met the Education Authority’s goals for environmentally responsible, energy-efficient, and community-focused educational facilities.
